AMD will deliver open graphics drivers

AMD will soon deliver open graphics drivers, said Henri Richard just a few minutes ago, and the audience at the opening keynote of the Red Hat Summit broke into applause and cheers. Richard, AMD’s executive vice president of sales and marketing, promised: “I’m here to commit to you that it’s going to get done.” He also promised that AMD is “going to be very proactive in changing way we interface with the Linux community.”

An Open Letter To ATI/AMD
If at that time (early September, say) there is no solid support forthcoming from ATI for an free high-performance driver, I'll probably go with an Intel solution. I don't like the firm much and would like to have an ATI solution, but right now that isn't possible. Too bad.

Tak to jsem zvědavý, protože momentální situace s ovladači ATI je katastrofa.
Vlastním Sapphire 9500 a za 2 roky jsem nenašel cestu jak rozchodit tuto kartu v Ubuntu, Fedoře ani SuSe.
Vždy stejný scénář, PC po náhodné době (10 sekund, 20 minut, 1 hodina) zamrzne na tvrdý reset.

A je jedno jestli používám proprietární ovladače nebo svobodné, je jedno jestli je zapnuta Akcelerace, je jedno co na PC běží (tudíž že by se karta přehřívala je vyloučené), prostě špatný ovladač :(

Tak se trápím na Integrované grafice od Intelu která jede bez problému a čekám na ovladač který bude fungovat.

kupte si radsi nvidii, tam nebude mit problem. Taky jsem to udelal, na workstation jsem pred vic nez rokem a pul poridil NVIDIA 6600GT (dneska uz stary sunt, ale funguje dobre) a nemam s stabilitou problemy.
