Space Shuttle control graphics software ported to Linux
Jun. 29, 2005
Real-time animated graphics tools used in control applications for Hong Kong's subway system and NASA's Space Shuttle have been ported to AMD-64 Linux. Kinesix's Sammi application development kit for Linux includes vector graphics interface creation tools, runtimes, and network APIs, and targets aerospace, transportation, and defense. http://www.linuxdevices.com/news/NS8274233444.html
Linux in Space
There are a number of applications which are being used or developed for the International Space Station.
The first demo was trialled on the STS-80 Shuttle. RACSI was originally developed on Linux Slackware with a 2.0.30 kernel. This was to be used and is used on an IBM ThinkPad. RACSI was programmed in ANSI C. It uses the Moo-Tiff libraries from InfoMagic. A desktop version has also been tried with SuSE 5.2 and kernel 2.0.33. The RACSI interface processes make use of APIs. http://www.sheflug.co.uk/featuresoft.htm
The Flight Linux Project officially completed on June 30, 2002. We are looking for other similar flight opportunities to colloborate with or participate in. Please get in touch.
FlightLinux is a concept that uses a real-time variation of the open source Linux Operating System for onboard spacecraft use. Onboard Operating systems have evolved from custom code to applications of embedded real-time operating systems. The time has come to go to open source.
The open source Linux concept, with a modified real-time, embeddable kernel, will address the unique problems of spacecraft onboard computers better.
otazka je zda se do "vyberoveho" rizeni vubec ms tlacil.
oto delat neco pro NASA neni zadny med. Duvod proc porad jeste v raketoplanech pouzivaj stare pocitace je
1) ruseni (pomalejsi jsou mene nachylne)
2) odladeny soft.
Měl sem dříve PC(166MHzCPU, 128MBRAM, 120GBHDD) a XP tam běžely svižně (start cca minutu, okno pruzkumníka do 2s, vypalování 52x rychlostí bez problémů).
